On June 21, 2000, the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Vietnam Press Day, in response to a proposal from the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam decided to rename Vietnam Press Day to Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.
Since then, June 21 has become a national holiday that is joyfully observed all around the nation.
